L.A. GUNS Frontman Lands Movie Role
February 23, 2008L.A. GUNS vocalist Phil Lewis has landed a role in the upcoming movie "Witchmaster General", which is being directed by Jim Haggerty ("I Dream of Dracula", "The Slasher").
Commented Lewis: "I have been given the part of Dr. Gordon, a man with connections to Satan whose voodoo powers are used in a murder-for-hire scheme.
"It's a great story and I'm looking forward to dressing up and over-acting.
"If you go to YouTube and type 'I Dream of Dracula,' you'll see a trailer for Jim Haggerty's earlier movie.
"I guess the person who was doing it originally flaked and while [Jim] watched us play Long Island a couple of weeks ago decided I'd be perfect for the role, and ya know, I think he may be right.
"I'm filming in New York City right after Albany. Should take a day or two.
"Last time I was on screen talking not singing was 'Melrose Place' years ago. So I may be a bit rusty but I'm told Jim's a great director and works very quickly, so I won't have to deliver the same lines over and over ad nauseam.
"By the way, one of the guys from 'The Sopranos' will be playing my nemesis."
L.A. GUNS' latest album, "Tales from the Strip", was released in August 2005 in the U.S. via Shrapnel Records. The CD, which was produced by Andy Johns (LED ZEPPELIN, THE ROLLING STONES),was lyrically inspired by a historically significant rock scene that L.A. GUNS had a strong hand in creating.
